Installing a shower screener is designed to be simple, clean, and fully reversible.
No tools, no adhesives, and no permanent changes.
If you can wipe down shower glass, you can install a screener.
What you’ll need
-
Your shower screener
-
A simple 50/50 mix of vinegar and water or standard glass cleaner
-
A soft cloth
-
A squeegee or plastic card
That’s it.
Step-by-step installation
1. Unroll and position
Unroll your shower screener and lay it flat on a clean surface. Do not crease it.
Hold it up to the glass to decide on placement, and whether you want it on the inside or outside of the shower. (We recommend the outside, but the inside is fine too.)
2. Clean the glass thoroughly
Clean the area where the screener will sit.
You can use a standard glass cleaner, a 50/50 vinegar and water mix, or your preferred cleaning method — just ensure the glass is free from dust, soap residue, and grease.
Wipe the surface until it feels clean and smooth.
3. Lightly wet the glass
Dampen the glass with a wet cloth. The glass should be covered with a thin, even layer of water — not dripping.
4. Apply the screener
Place the screener onto the wet glass and smooth it gently from the centre outward.
Use a squeegee, ruler or plastic card to push out air bubbles and excess water.
5. Adjust if needed
If the position isn’t quite right, peel back, re-wet, and reapply. You can reposition it as many times as needed.
If it starts to lift
-
Remove the screener completely
-
Re-clean and re-wet
-
Re-wet the surface
A clean, wet surface makes all the difference.
After installation
Once fitted, the screener sits flush and blends seamlessly with your glass.
- Outside installation: needs very little attention — a light dust is enough.
- Inside installation: the screener catches water, soap, and mineral residue. For deep cleans, remove it, clean the glas and then clean the screener before reapplying.
(We cover removal in more detail in How to Remove a Shower Screener.)
A final tip
Take your time smoothing the screener during installation - Slow, even pressure helps avoid bubbles and gives the cleanest finish.
